Jacob Long (Eastern Band Cherokee), a member of the Long Hair Clan, brings a keen eye to his award-winning nature and wildlife digital photography. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University, Long transformed his study of biology into a self-taught, artistic appreciation for the natural world. Long is an award-winning photographer and has been published in multiple wildlife magazines.
Long is inspired to communicate the beauty of the natural world to people that may not have the opportunity to see it every day. He has a particular talent for capturing scenes that others may, at first, regard as mundane or commonplace and framing them in such a style that their true artistry shines through. His work pays homage to the ancestral lands of the Cherokee and the vast array of flora and fauna that comprise the Cherokee world. Long currently resides in Sylva, NC.
