Kristy M. Herron (Eastern Cherokee and Diné) of the One Walks Around and Many Goats Clans is producing cutting-edge Cherokee art. With a BFA in Photographic Imaging from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Herron produces high quality works in digital photography. As an artist for over twenty-three years, Herron is largely self-taught, having studied the works of Annie Liebovitz, ManRay, and Edward Curtis in college and working with friends like Cliff Blakely to improve her knowledge of lighting. Herron’s work can be found in private collections and commercial media across the Southeast. She has presented her work at festivals across the country, including the Smithsonian Museum. Her unique brand of natural, flash, macro, and experimental photography makes her a true asset artist leading the contemporary arts scene in her community while also working to honor the traditions of Cherokee culture. She currently lives in the Yellowhill Community of Cherokee, NC.
