Letitia George

Letitia George (Eastern Band Cherokee), as a graduate of New York Institute of Photography, incorporates the images she captures as a professional photographer in her ribbon and fabric work. While George only began working in this medium about seven years ago, she has worked in the medium of beadwork for over forty-eight years. George was taught to bead as a child by her mother and enjoys both on-loom and off-loom beading.

As an adult, George’s friend, Debbie Nations, helped her to expand her skills to sewing and fabric work. George’s photography continues to be inspired by the nature and landscapes that surround her in Cherokee, Asheville, and the Blue Ridge Parkway. She currently lives in the Painttown Community of Cherokee, North Carolina.
