Auron Taylor (Eastern Band Cherokee/Diné), member of the Tsé nabahiłnii- the sleeping rock people clan, is a rising senior at Cherokee High School. From a very young age, Taylor experimented with a wide variety of artist mediums. Today he focuses on basketry, drawing, fabric design, clothing production, pottery, painting, linoleum prints, figurine and puppet making, and digital art. His art has consistently been awarded ribbons at the Annual Cherokee High School Art Show. Much of his inspiration and instruction come from his family. His father, Nic Taylor is a talented sketch artist and basket maker. His mother, Chantell Frank, weaves traditional Navajo rugs. For generations, Taylor’s Eastern Band Cherokee and Diné families have carried on the traditional practices of basketry, pottery, wool weaving, and silver work. While largely self-taught, he has taken some high school classes in the arts and been mentored by his family of artisans.
Taylor made his Kananesgi debut in 2025 as both a model and designer. In 2026 he is co-designing with his grandmother, Paula J. Wojtkowski. This partnership also includes Taylor’s designs being featured on Unapologetically Rez apparel.
He currently resides in the Wolftown Community of Cherokee, North Carolina with his parents Nic Taylor and Chantell Frank and siblings Niyah (13) and Izzy Taylor (10).
