Freida Saylor

Freida Saylor (Eastern Band Cherokee), a member of the Wild Potato Clan, has spent thirty-six years working within her artistic medium of apparel design and production. Having earned a BA, MA, and Doctoral degree in Social Work, Saylor’s professional career directly informs her design aesthetic. Learning the artform, in part, from her mother and in Home Economics classes as a young woman, Saylor found sewing to be an outlet for combating depression and anxiety. She continues to view it as a tool for maintaining strong mental health and actively promotes the benefits of tapping into one’s creative side. Her designs reflect a bold message of empowerment and healing.

Saylor taps into her cultural and spiritual influences to present Get Loud, her contemporary design collection. She currently resides in the Birdtown Community of Cherokee, NC.
